Godly Character Quality #23: Gratefulness!

Gratefulness vs. Unthankfulness: Making known to God and others in what ways they have benefited my life. - 1 Corinthians 4:7

Gratefulness is, well, great! When someone does something nice for us, something that benefits our life, we need to give thanks!

Be thankful everyday.... not just on Thanksgiving.

It's always great when you can be a blessing to someone else. Serving is what we are put here on Earth to do! When we do something kind to help a friend out, they show their gratefulness. We need to show our gratefulness when others do nice things for us!

Our entire lives and existences were given to us by God. It's a gift. When we get gifts on our birthday, we are continually thanking people for them. That's expected.

What about the gifts that aren't wrapped up in paper and tied with a bow? What about the gifts that are.more... subtle?

"Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe.." -Hebrews 12:28

His kingdom is our kingdom. God has benefited our life in the biggest way... he has given us life! Sometimes, we take that for granted, but life is not a guarantee! If you died today, would you feel that you had given enough thanks to all those who had been a blessing to you?

Just know that it's never too late, or too early, to show your gratitude for someone else.  Make it known in your prayers how thankful you are for this gift of life your living.

Blessings!

  2. My son's devotion was on this very topic last night. We've always stressed the importance of being thankful and living with a heart of gratitude. Now that he is becoming a little more independent (well, as independent as a 2nd grader can be), I like to reiterate how important being thankful actually is.
    Thanks for the post!

  3. I've been trying for a few years to express my gratitude more freely. I still slip up, but I'm doing some better:)
