Godly Character Quality #19: Contentment!

More.

Isn't that what we all want?

But it's not what God wants for us.

And He gets to decide.

Contentment vs. Covetousness: Realizing that God has provide everything I need for my present happiness. - 1 Timothy 6:8

God provides. He gives us all the tools we need to be successful and fulfilled in our lives. So why are we often unhappy and unfulfilled then?

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” - Psalms 46:10

"My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?" - Psalms 42:2

We don't deserve God. Really. We have done nothing to EARN God's grace. But He give it too us anyway. All we have to do is ask!

You have not because you ask not; Ask and you shall receive. {I love that!}

We have the capacity to be perfectly happy. We have to chose to be happy. Choose to see God's grace everywhere we turn. Choose to see our lives not as our own, but rather, as a tool to serve God. See our blessings as a way to turn on our heel and BE a blessing!

I'm happy just typing this. Whoever does not love does not know God- For God is love. {to quote Megan's blog.}

Don't be greedy. If you always want what you can't have, you can't be truly happy. I don't need riches or anything else superficial to make me happy: I'm perfectly content {ecstatic} with God's love.

What makes you content in your walk with God?

Blessings!

  1. What a great read. I have recently been freed from a situation that was very competitive. I had a friend who intended to match me mile for mile, look for look, accomplishment for accomplishment. It became such a noose around my neck. I feel I have been set free! I became discontented because I fell into the trap myself. I was ugly on the inside while smiling on the outside. Contentment for me is knowing who I am in Christ and fulfilling what He's designed for me.
